Just a short notelet to let y'all know that today's USRant will be somewhat late; I've got to make a little dash (300km round trip) to pick up a new RantMobile.
This will be a vehicle that is genuinely Rantworthy - a Morris 1100 (also known as the "Land Crab" - not the "Noddy Car"). Next to the brilliant original Issigonis Mini, the Morris 1100 is my favourite small car.
As yet, no dickhead marketing wanker has screwed with the design, unlike the Mini (and the VW Beetle). In both of those cases, they turned a design masterpiece into a piece of plastic shit that only a hairdresser would be caught dead in. The 'new' Mini is a dog - it's worse than the old Mini Clubman (a mini with a front-end designed by an American); the new Beetle is just grotesque.
Where was I? Oh yes... I'm leaving here just before 6 a.m. AEST (i.e., about 20 minutes before the US market closes), and should be back home by about 10 a.m. AEST... which means that the USRant won't be web-ified until about 11 (9 p.m. NY time).
It's maroon. I've never seen a maroon 1100 before.
