OzRant: Friday Fade.... So BORING....

Note - from June 24th 2009, this blog has migrated from Blogger to a self-hosted version. Click here to go straight there.

The Ruddock-Lati frisson gives us some indication as to why spies get to stay longer than they ought to, and why they get to leave quietly. Now Ruddock ought to be castigated and fired, if only because his daughter has such manifestly poor judgement.

Now all we need is an explanation as to why Pru Goward got a plum job within the Howard mal-administration. As I understand it, it's not just because her name rhymes with that of the Prime Minister. (That said, the bilateral bad taste involved in that rumour makes my skin crawl even more than the Gareth Evans/Cheryl Kernot matter).

Major Market Indices

The broad market - the ASX All Ordinaries - fell by 3.30 points (-0.08%), finishing at 4151.70 points. The index hit an intraday low at 4141.7 shortly before 11 a.m., and rallied to a high of 4156.40 just before everybody set off for a late Friday lunch. A 15-point intraday range... typically Friday. And the afternoon was even more typical - the market traded at an absolutely glacial pace, with the range contracting to less than 5 points for the entire afternoon.

The cash basis for the SFE's Share Price index Futures - the S&P/ASX 200 - fell by 3.40 points (-0.08%), finishing at 4163.50 points.
