I plan to move the hosting of this blog to my own server over the next couple of days: doubtless I will blow thewholething up once or twice in the process - so be prepared for new and exciting adventures during which you can't find the bloody blog.
There are a couple of reasons for this: first, Blogger's servers are somewhat kludgy and the Blogger editor is crap; second, Google (who own Blogger) is too ready to abrogate its "Do No Evil" motto in its bid to get money out of repressive governments (like 'Israel', the US and China); and third, self-hosted WordPress installations offer a much more robust mechanism for excluding unwanted visitors (e.g., French child-molesters who keep trying to hack this blog, but are easy to exclude from a hosted site).
The URL (marketrant.blogspot.com) will remain under my control, but what I hope to do is to use the internal 'redirect' feature to take non-child molesters over to the new self-hosted space, and send an IP-bomb up the pipe to unwelcome visitors and then drop them onto a website that will get them investigated.
Just kidding about the IP bomb/redirect-to-illicit-site thing.
The new version will have less psychotic ranting (most of which has served another, more esoteric purpose over these last few months).
So anyway: as I mentioned above,the odds that I blow the whole site up for awhile over the next few days, is quite high, but everything is backed up now so any disaster will be temporary. The same link will still work, an RSS feeds will still operate.
