WebRant: Any Firefox Experts Out There?

Note - from June 24th 2009, this blog has migrated from Blogger to a self-hosted version. Click here to go straight there.

UPDATE: Fixed it... obviously IE was smart enough to account for the fact that for two weeks I had left out the "#" from in front of the bgcolor="#4A698C" attribute on the "tr" tags.

And also I had a div tag with class="post-body" attribute, to define the body text attributes in posts... but there was no such class in the CSS. Firefox doesn't let you get away with stupid things, you see!!

I am an idiot sometimes...

The issues is resolved on all futures posts, and I'm going to "retro-fix" Archive posts progressively over time (putting in the "#" into the bgcolor attributes), and that ought to make everything hunky-dory. Right now, I need some sleep...

[Ignore the post below... it's all been fixed]

Here's the drag: I just switched permanently to Firefox, which I've been checking out for a while (although I've never used it to view the Rant until just now ... how strange!!). About 21% of all Rant readers use Firefox (which means that the uptake among Rantites is faster than the general rate, which shows that Rantites are smarter than average, in my view... more Rantites use Linux than the average too).

That's not the point. the point is that I spent ages (as much as three whole hours) trying to get the Rant layouts how I like them... the blue headers on tables and so on.

Now I find that the Firefox presentation is WAAAAY different from what you see in Internet Explorer (and Firefox also diddles around with the fonts, too - although they're all hard-coded via a CSS style sheet).

Is there some eay to force congruence between the two browsers? What is theFirefox "trick" to getting my beloved table header rows back to blue (they disappear - the font is white and the bgcolor drops to white as well... how come that?)

Yes, in short... HELP!!!
